her royal highness…. tori tran?

So who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell…. XOXO

Just kidding. My first and last names are plastered all over this website and my social media, and I could never be as cool and secretive as Gossip Girl himself. I do, however, want to use my second blog entry as a way to introduce myself to give some backstory on my life and how “hrhtori” came to be.

So starting with the basics, my name is Tori (duh) and I’m 19 years old and living in Southern California. I was born and raised here and wouldn’t change it for the world! As much as I’ve been dreaming of living in New York City for as long as I can remember, I feel so blessed to have been raised in my beautiful city, and I will always be a California girl at heart. To truly personify the Katy Perry song, I absolutely love the ocean, and I’ll take any chance to be in a bikini at the beach. I took up surfing lessons when I was younger and loved it, even though it’s been a hot minute and my board has been sitting atop the garage for years… hehe. Some of my other hobbies include being in the kitchen, reading, and singing! I took up cooking/baking when I was ~9 years old and was absolutely obsessed with Nerdy Nummies. I got to meet Rosanna Pansino at one of her cookbook signings in 2015 and it genuinely changed the trajectory of my life forever.

Speaking of fangirling… this leads me to the backstory of “hrhtori” and wtf it means. For starters, no it is not associated with the royal family of England, and even worse, the YouTuber “HRHCollection”. To tell this tale we must go back to 2009, when a little TV show named Glee first aired. Little Tori Tran became intrigued with this satirical musical comedy show her mom probably put in the background, and decided to become a fan at the ripe age of 5 (there’s a first-grade journal entry to prove it!) Flash forward 6 years later, I became conscious enough to watch the show on my own terms and once again became OBSESSED! I’m talking Instagram fan pages, online chat rooms, and plenty of cast member events obsessed. So how does all of this relate to my username? If I’m not mistaken, Chris Colfer, who played Kurt on Glee, had the username “hrhchriscolfer”. I was twelve years old and loved this actor so the only sensible thing to do was to steal his username and put my name instead, right? Looking back, this story is so anti-climactic and I really didn’t need to go into all of this detail but here we are.

Well now you know the backstory of my username, feel special because I’ve never told it to anyone else before! Except for Chris Colfer himself in the letter I wrote and gave to him at a book signing, but that’s beside the point. Anyway, back to my favorite subject, myself! I am an incoming third-year college student attending UCSD in the fall. I am majoring in Communication Studies and plan to minor in Marketing. I’ve always considered myself a creative person, and after college, I plan to utilize my degree in the creative arts or entertainment industry!

So there you have it! A not-so-brief summary of my life and background, but don’t worry, there’s still so much more of my lore that I haven’t quite shared yet. ;)
